July flew by....

Wow, I cannot believe that it has been so long since I have last posted! Needless to say, the studio has been very busy. On July 9th we celebrated our second anniversary and the grand opening of our new larger space with an open house at the studio.

I have been very busy photographing the Class of 2012. We have sold out many of our summer dates thus far. We are booking seniors from over 30 different schools and so far up to 60miles away!!

In addition to the hundreds of senior sessions booked, I have also been busy nearly every weekend photographing weddings and Bar Mitzvahs. It is such an honor to be the chosen photographer for these occasions. I have photographed events all over Northern Ohio thus far and I am looking forward to photographing a wedding in Bar Harbor, ME next month.

This week and last week I spent time photographing the cadets at Camp Bainbridge. These cadets came from all over the country to participate in this training camp. It was very impressive to watch them work on buildings and deconstruction projects. I am looking forward to continuing my work with the Naval Seabee Cadets next year as well! But, in the meantime, we have some pretty big events coming up.

The Great Geauga County Fair is just around the corner. The studio will have two booths in Merchant Building 2 this year. So be sure to stop by and check it out. You will probably bump into me somewhere at Fair, I seem to be everywhere that weekend.

Mentorship students have arrived at NDP

It is that time of year again... area high school seniors are starting their senior projects with community sponsors in the career fields of their choice.

I am so excited to have five area students mentoring at the studio. Our two Solon students started yesterday, then we have two Kenston students starting on Monday and even a Chagrin Falls Middle School student shadowing next week. These are fun times at the studio. I am having so much fun showing these seniors the ins and outs of NDP. If you stop by the studio during the next 3 weeks, be sure to say hi to these students.

Well things are moving right along with the new location. All the walls are painted, the tile is in, the carpet will be installed this week, and everything else is right on schedule. I am so excited to be moving the studio this weekend. I am even more to officially open on April 25th. Our entire operation will move to the larger space and be fully operational by early next week. I love all of the renovations that have been made and more importantly all of the extra space we have. Our new location:

I am expanding the studio!!!

Well, the secret is out of the bag now…

I have had a very blessed first two years in business. I am so thankful for all of your support. In an effort to continue increasing New Direction’s efficiency, we will be expanding the studio in a few weeks. We hope that this news is just as exciting for all of you as it is for us. Last year, I had the privilege of photographing over 260 seniors from all across Northeast Ohio. Hundreds of families and children also selected New Direction, not to mention the numerous weddings and events that I have been honored to photograph. It is such an unstated compliment to be your appointed photographer for such momentous occasions. I am astounded to witness such an unpredictable level of growth in this short period of time. I continue to be amazed by how quickly New Direction Photography has grown and cannot say thank you, as our valued friend and client, enough. I sincerely hope that you will come to visit me at the new location. We are moving just two miles down the road, which allows us to triple our previous space. The construction crew is busy entirely renovating the space…. it is going to have that new studio smell.

Chagrin Falls, Ohio (March, 2011) – Local photographer Amanda Hrabak of New Direction Photography in Chagrin Falls was recently accepted as a member of Senior Photographers International (SPI) for yet another year. She has been a member since 2009.

SPI is an association of professional photography studios specializing in high school senior portraits. Amanda Hrabak joins over 400 of the top high school senior photographers from around the world as members of SPI.

Founded in 1992, Senior Photographers International brings together high school senior portrait photographers in order to share ideas and expertise among one another. As a group, the members photograph approximately 200,000 seniors each year. Annually, SPI holds a members-only convention in Florida with seminars on cutting edge techniques by award-winning photographers as well as an awards gala and networking opportunities. Membership is limited to one professionally licensed photography studio per zip code.

“New Direction Photography is a valued member of Senior Photographers International and has been serving Northeast Ohio for years,” said SPI’s President and founders Terry and Sue Harris. “New Direction Photography upholds the ideals and standards set forth by SPI members and is eager to share their ideas for the betterment of the profession.”

Brrr, I'm back.....

I recently returned from a senior photographers conference in Orlando( I know it's a tough job, but someone's got to do it) where I got to meet with many other senior photographers from around the world. As many of you know, any 2011 senior that came through the studio was entered for a chance to be the studio's finalist in the Senior Photographers' International $8,000 giveaway. Our finalist was Mycah from Solon High School. Unfortunately, Mycah was not drawn as the International winner, but I did not let her walk away empty handed. She received a gift certificate towards her senior pictures from me. It is hard to believe that when we rang in 2011, I was already thinking 2012.

I am already busy photographing many area 2012 senior spokesmodels. These models were selected to represent the studio for the class of 2012 and to show off our work. If you are interested or know someone that would be a great 2012 spokesmodel, please contact me.

What a Year!

Happy New Year everyone! This has been another tremendous year for New Direction Photography. The studio continues to grow, thanks to all of your support! I cannot believe that this year alone I photographed hundreds of families, pets, kids and over 250 seniors! I am also grateful to be the photographer of choice for so many of your events. This year I also had a couple of firsts; I went up in a hot air balloon to take aerial photos and I went on tv twice to talk about my business! These are things that I would not normally do(quite honestly, I was slightly nervous). I am so thankful that I had these experiences. They were amazing! 2010 was a wonderful year and I cannot wait to see what 2011 has store.

Celebrate a perfect Fall evening in the country as Geauga County Tourism hosts their second annual Hometown Hoe-Down.

Dinner will be served from 6:30pm to 8pm, enjoy a hearty country buffet. Enjoy a Square Dancing demonstration and then the Fort Huntsburg Band will add more entertainment to your evening.

Pumpkins and mums will also be available for purchase. We will have games and cornhole as well as a live pie auction and contests. Additional activities will include a 50/50 raffle, A Brew Saloon, buggy rides, auction and a wine pull. The evening will also feature a “cow plop drop.”

New Direction had a busy 5 days at the Great Geauga County Fair, but we were glad to see so many of our studio friends, and even new customers, stop by. From hot air balloon rides to monster truck shows, we had a blast photographing everything throughout the week. There are even pictures from the animal and art shows. Thank you to everyone that came to the studio's anniversary party on Friday! We had over 100 people turn out to celebrate the milestone with us. A special thank you to all that drove great distances to celebrate with me. I also appreciate all the cards, gifts and plants(they are all still alive). It is so hard to believe that it has been a year, but what a year it has been!!

I would like to send a special thank you to all that volunteered and helped with the event....you are my heroes! Thank you Brian Miller, Abrianna Daniels, Judy Pignaloso, Leann McCreary, Tom Durandt(extra credit for picking up my pink balloons), TJ Hrabak and everyone else that had a hand in the event!

2010 Seniors,
I had the privilege of photographing over 160 northeast Ohio 2010 seniors last year. I just want to take a moment to congratulate all of you on your accomplishments and wish you continued success. If I can impress one last thought on all of you it would be to never lose track of your dreams. The path to your dreams and ambitions may be marked with "potholes" and "detours," but you cannot give up. One day you will realize that you have "arrived" and are truly living your dream. I am living my dream, doing what I love and getting to meet and photograph all of you. Believe in yourself and your dreams and then you will make your dreams a reality.

Yay for June!

New Direction is an exciting place. Here is what we have been up to and are up to now:

1. As many of you know I try to find as many ways as possible to give back to the community and gracious people that have supported me along the way. This spring I was approached by four area high school students that were interested in working at the studio for their senior projects. Abrianna, a senior at Orange High school, was with me the entire month of May. Brian, a senior at Solon High School, was with me the middle two weeks of May. Mackenzie and Katie, seniors at Kenston High School, were with me the last two weeks of May. All together, these students logged over 300 volunteer hours with New Direction Photography. They were taught proper techniques, they helped with marketing pieces, they photographed along side me at many community events and were a tremendous help. They were a true reminder of how blessed I am to be doing what I love and in a position to teach my craft to others.

2. The studio's first newsletter was sent out this evening to hundreds of clients and supporters. The newsletter will be sent out periodically with studio news, discounts and updates. If you do not receive a copy of the newsletter, just email me at amanda@newdirectionphoto.com and I will gladly email you a copy.

3. Nearly 75 2011Seniors from all over Northeast Ohio have already scheduled their senior portrait sessions at New Direction Photography and that number continues to grow. Thanks to my awesome mentorship students

If you have stopped by the studio lately or seen me on a location shoot, you have had the privilege of meeting my amazing mentorship students. I have been privileged to have 4 mentorship students from area schools with me this month. Abrianna from Orange High School has been with the studio since May 3rd and will be here through the end of the month. Brian was with the studio from May 10th until today. Mackenzie and Katie from Kenston started this week and will be with the studio through next week.

These students have shadowed me on studio shoots, photographed sporting events with me, assembled marketing pieces and so much more. The studio is busy as ever and they were a tremendous help. When all of their mentorships come to and end, I will be sad to see them go. There will be more photos with the other students posted on the fan page soon.

I cannot thank these guys enough!

Local businesses are teaming up to offer local parents the opportunity to have Safe-T photo id cards made for their children. These cards feature an up to date image of your child as well as vital information and emergency contact numbers. On the reverse of the cards are the numbers and instructions of what to do if your child is missing.

When: May 15, 2010 Stop by between 9am-1pm

Where: Auburn Early Learning and Child Care Center (10185 Gottschalk Parkway in Auburn)

Why: It is vital to have up to date information on your child and well as a recent photo in the event they go missing. We will provide 3 copies of the card (one for each parent as well as the child). The card has emergency contact info in the event you need to be reached as well.

Who: All children are welcome to come and be photographed by New Direction Photography and have these vital cards made.

I hope all of you are enjoying the beautiful weather. As many of you know, I started this business under a year ago and thanks to the tremendous support of my clients and the community, I continue to build my client base. On March 4, I am proud to say that New Direction Photography delivered a brand new digital SLR camera to Rescue Village. They will use this camera to take photos in and around the shelter. I have also volunteered my time to teach the staff and volunteers how to use this camera. This is just one of the many ways that I have found to say "Thank You" to the community.

On another note; I am proud to say that New Direction Photography will be the Official Photographer of the Geauga County Fair for the next 3 years. We are all looking forward to the Fair!

We have also begun designing many graduation announcements for the CLASS of 2010. Believe it or not, we have already begun to photograph seniors from the CLASS of 2011 as well. Starting 2010 off with a bang!

Wow is all that comes to mind!! I started January off photographing seniors on New Year's Day. Then came weddings (yes that is weddings plural), families, kids and pets!! The studio is keeping busy which is so awesome. I am so thankful for all the referrals that have been sent my way. It blows my mind to know that not only am I booking 2010 weddings, but I have already been booked for three weddings in 2011. Plus I am already photographing the Class of Twenty-Eleven.

I continue to photograph 2010 seniors; however I have already begun photographing my 2011 Senior Spokesmodels. I am going to reveal the first 11 of these spokesmodels over the next few weeks. We are having a blast! These juniors are the Premier Eleven of 2011. They are the first be photographed with new backgrounds, lighting and props. These 11 will be revealed on the NDP fan page on facebook. The first of the eleven was revealed today. Who will you know? These spokesmodels will have awesome senior savings to give out to friends and classmates!!!

As you all know, I have been in Florida for the past week at a convention. This convention was regarded as the photography "Convention of a Lifetime" and it definitely lived up to all expectations. The convention was a gathering of the Top 400 senior photography studios from across the globe(Senior Photographers International). The past week has been filled with the sharing of ideas and techniques amongst all of us. We had some phenomenal speakers. I cannot wait to fly back and start photographing my 2011 Senior Spokesmodels. I will begin photographing these spokesmodels this Sunday! Over the next few weeks I will be photographing these select juniors that were nominated by their classmates and friends for an opportunity to premier the senior photography trends and backgrounds for their class. I am thrilled to already have 17 local seniors that have accepted the nominations to be NDP spokesmodels. These seniors will be photographed over the next few weeks and soon they will be showing off the new backgrounds and techniques that New Direction has for Twenty-Eleven.

There are all sorts of surprises coming soon, so check back to see your friends' portraits posted. If you happen to know any of the spokesmodels, feel free to ask them for a referral card and to check out their pictures. They will have special discounts to give you.

Happy New Year Everyone! Wow, 2009, what a wild ride!

Thank you to everyone who chose New Direction Photography for your photographic needs. I am so happy to have photographed hundreds of you from Northeast Ohio and all over the country.

July 8, 2009 was the official first day of portrait shoots at the studio. From there things really took off. I appreciate everyone's support and continued referrals. Referrals of your friends and family are the greatest compliments that I can receive as a photographer. You are all awesome! 2010 Seniors, you will be receiving something special in the mail between now and January 10th.

I am so excited for 2010! I begin the year photographing a wedding on January 2nd!! I leave January 4th for the Senior Photographers International Convention, and return the 9th. Once I return, the studio will begin photographing 2011 seniors. I am so eager to be beginning to photograph the Class of 2011. NDP has booked over a dozen spokesmodels from area schools that will be the premier of new backgrounds and styles for their class. I am thrilled that so many 2011 seniors requested to be spokesmodels. We will have fun!!!

Think Pink Photography was founded in October 2007 to support individuals and their families who have been touched by breast cancer. We are a charitable organization that serves two main purposes – celebrating life and supporting the cause.

Through our professional photographer network, we are helping breast cancer patients to celebrate life with charitable photography sessions. Individuals may choose to document their fight against the disease before or during treatment, or prefer to capture their victory by scheduling a session within 12 months after treatment is completed. New Direction Photography, LLC is moving forward

I would just like to take another moment to thank everyone that has supported me throughout the process of starting the studio. I am thrilled with the progress. As soon as the loan is approved, I will move into the commercial location and hopefully open the first week of June.

I have a special offer for my wonderful supporters. If anyone is in need of updating their family portraits, needs children pictures, or senior pictures, I have an amazing deal. As you all know I was formerly employed by another studio, which retains the rights to all of my images; therefore I am in need of models to build a portfolio for marketing and for the studio website which is currently being built.
